Overview
The Growatt SPE 8000 ES is a 8kW (8,000W), 48V single-phase hybrid solar inverter from Growatt's SPE 8000–12000 ES series. It combines a pure sine wave inverter, two MPPT solar inputs and a high-current battery charger, with separate grid and generator inputs, dual outputs and a 5-year manufacturer warranty.
Who it's for
Larger homes, shops and offices with a 48V battery bank who need to run heavier loads such as air conditioners and pumping machines on solar, grid and generator, with room to expand by adding more units in parallel.
What it can power
It delivers 8,000W continuously, which is about 6–8kW of loads, enough for most homes including 2 x 1.5HP air conditioners, a pumping machine, fridge/freezer and kitchen appliances. How long it runs depends on your battery bank, not the inverter. These figures are estimates; actual performance depends on your appliances, batteries and installation.
Key specifications in plain language
• Solar: two MPPT inputs taking up to 10,000W of panels across two inputs (one string each, up to 27A per input; for example two strings of 9 x 550W), 550V maximum.
• Battery: charges and discharges at up to 190 / 200A, for lithium and lead-acid batteries.
• Grid and generator: two AC inputs with a built-in transfer switch (under 20ms), plus grid-tied peak shaving.
• Dual outputs for smart load management, and parallel operation up to 108kW.
• Smart: LCD display, Wi-Fi or 4G remote monitoring with Growatt's free app.
• Efficiency up to 96.5%.
• Size: 550 x 465 x 150mm and 21.5kg, for indoor wall mounting (IP20).
Compatibility
Use it with a 48V battery bank, lithium or lead-acid. For lithium BMS communication, check Growatt's approved battery list. Use correctly sized battery and PV cables, breakers and earthing; at full power it draws about 185A from the batteries. Installation should be done by a qualified installer.
Warranty & support
5 years from Growatt, the manufacturer, from the date of installation. We supply this product through a partner supplier, so claims are handled by Growatt through that supplier; keep the warranty card, proof of purchase and installation invoice.

Questions about this product
What can it power?
It delivers 8,000W continuously, which is about 6–8kW of loads, enough for most homes including 2 x 1.5HP air conditioners, a pumping machine, fridge/freezer and kitchen appliances. Add up the wattage of everything you want to run at the same time and keep it under the rating. Growatt does not publish a surge rating in its datasheet, so allow headroom for motors that draw a high starting current.
Which batteries does it work with?
Any 48V battery bank, lithium or lead-acid. From our range, that includes the Felicity LPBF48100 (5kWh) and Felicity FLA48100 (5.12kWh). Growatt publishes an approved lithium battery list for BMS communication (linked under Documents); ask your installer to confirm your battery. To run the full 8,000W from batteries, the bank must supply about 185A continuously, so you will normally need several batteries in parallel.
How many solar panels can I connect?
The two MPPT inputs take up to 10,000W of panels across two inputs (one string each, up to 27A per input; for example two strings of 9 x 550W), with each string's open-circuit voltage kept below 550V. A qualified installer should design the strings.
Can I connect a generator?
Yes. It has two AC input terminals with an integrated transfer switch, one for the grid and one for a generator.
Where should I install it?
Indoors on a wall (IP20), in a ventilated spot. It has a cooling fan (under 75dB), so avoid bedrooms. It measures 550 x 465 x 150mm and weighs 21.5kg.
What warranty does it have?
5 years from Growatt, from the date of installation. Claims go through our supplier to Growatt, so keep the warranty card, your purchase receipt and installation invoice.
